The Place I Live

I'm living and working on the Anatolian (Asian) side of Istanbul. My home is in Kadikoy disctrict (named Khalkedon in ancient times) and my office is in Uskudar. Kadıkoy and Uskudar are two neighbour districts and my home and office are on the borders of these two districts, so I can walk from home to work and vice versa in 15 minutes. Every day I get up around 8 o'clock and get out for work around 8:30.

Between the office and the home there is a big park, which is called Ogretmenevi Korusu, this is a small woody area where locals come for jogging etc. Geography of the area is a little bit rough, there is an uphill and a downhill. But the scenery is fascinating.

You can see trees and sea on the horizon. Also surrounding buildings makes a contrast with the nature of the park but not spoiling that much.

In fact, when I come to the park I feel like entering an oasis, because you cannot say that there is such a woody area in this region without seeing with your eyes.

The park is somewhat hidden from the outside. A small valley hidden deep in the center of the city. I feel relieved when come here. So going to work and returning to home passing through the park is always a stress eliminating journey for me.

Sometimes you bump to a suprise while walking with thoughts in your head and smile to such occasions.

And after all, I feel lucky to live in such a region and see such beauties of the nature. These are the moments that I felt being a part of the environement and cannot live without it. When I think of the affects of humanity on nature and earth itself I become terrifed and afraid of the reaction that the earth will show to us.

I wish you a good day and happy new year.
